SpazioPPP: Ciao Sarah e Giacomo, ci illustrereste brevemente qual è la natura di galleriagalleria?
galleriagalleria: galleriagalleria (@galleria__galleria) è una doppia raccolta di vita vissuta ieri e di vita incontrata oggi. Doppia perché racconta di due persone, di due modi di vedere l'arte. Una costante ricerca del bello e della casualità nel trovarlo, il tutto accomunato dal nostro gusto personale. galleriagalleria è un progetto di condivisione digitale, con il grande desiderio di portare l'arte in luoghi inconsueti, attraverso la contestualizzazione fisica di progetti site-specific temporanei. Noi crediamo che se un'opera non viene imposta, ma anzi questa è bisognosa di attenzioni; se un'opera non “urla” il solo fatto di esistere, ma anzi timidamente si lascia passare inosservata; ebbene crediamo allora che questa possa venire amata e curata dalla comunità che la circonda.
SPPP: Durante il nostro incontro avete raccontato della vostra vita oltreoceano a New York. Quali sono le principali differenze culturali e lavorative che avete riscontrato durante la vostra permanenza?
gg: La nostra terra di origine è l'Italia, ed è ancora più preziosa e romantica quando la si vede con gli occhi di chi vive lontano, rimuovendo quel velo di nebbia dai nostri occhi che ha accompagnato la nostra adolescenza, rieducando noi stessi alla sorpresa e allo stupore. Fare avanti e indietro con New York ci dà il grande privilegio di potere vedere il Bel Paese con lo sguardo che solo chi ha avuto una relazione d’amore a distanza può comprendere. La prima reazione è quella di imbarazzo e disorientamento, poi si vedono solo i lati positivi. Dopo che però ci si è abituati troppo, allora meglio prendere un volo per la nostra terra di adozione, New York City: qui ci siamo sposati, qui viviamo e lavoriamo da molti anni. Non è una città facile, ti richiede davvero molto. Non c'è scampo, o ti ci abbandoni e investi tutte le energie, oppure soccombi. Ma se sei forte abbastanza ecco che vieni ripagato con tante opportunità, colori, luci e persone di ogni sorta con cui cresci a livello umano e culturale. Nel campo lavorativo c'è una principale e sostanziale differenza, laggiù a tutti viene data almeno una opportunità o più, anche al più giovane. Se hai voglia di fare, puoi sognare ad occhi aperti e per nostra esperienza la meritocrazia gioca sicuramente un ruolo importante.
SPPP: Sulla base delle vostre esperienze all'estero, come giudicate l'attuale panorama artistico italiano?
gg: Domanda particolarmente interessante e difficile, alla quale non ci sentiamo ancora pronti a dare una risposta esaustiva. Ci siamo seriamente e con studio affacciati al panorama artistico contemporaneo italiano solo di recente e dopo anni di esperienza principalmente all’esterno. Abbiamo percepito una grande voglia di fare comunità tra gli artisti che cercano di crescere ed invece maggiore volontà e necessità di indipendenza e riconoscibilità tra gli artisti più affermati. Differenza sostanziale tra il panorama italiano e quello americano, la percepiamo quando si parla di "giovane artista", posizione considerata con grande entusiasmo nel continente americano: opportunità nel conoscere una nuova prospettiva, freschezza nell'approccio e metodologia del processo. La nostra ricerca e studio continuano così da condividere un pensiero aggiornato per il nostro prossimo incontro!
SPPP: Si può considerare galleriagalleria come l’elemento mancante in un sistema binario, una sorta di satellite che si interfaccia con realtà e artisti “ estabilished” così come con realtà e artisti “indipendenti”?
gg: galleriagalleria nasce dal desiderio di divulgare la "bellezza". Abbiamo il desiderio di avvicinare chi vive l'arte con distacco per motivi culturali e/o legati alla distanza dai principali fulcri dove l'arte è protagonista.
Desideriamo stimolare ulteriormente un approccio romantico piuttosto che critico nei confronti dell'opera. Come detto in precedenza, la diversità arricchisce solamente.
SPPP: Quali progetti avete per il futuro di galleriagalleria?
gg:
Con grande entusiasmo e con il solstizio d'estate avverrà il primo progetto site-specific di galleriagalleria. Attraverso la divulgazione in maniera "diffusa" incontreremo il vostro sguardo e quando questo avverrà, è fortemente consigliato lasciarsi guidare dalla curiosità e vivere l'esperienza del tutto personale in condivisione o individualmente. In ogni caso lasciamoci rapire da una ventata di fresca bellezza!

SpazioPPP: Hi Sarah and Giacomo, would you briefly illustrate the nature of galleriagalleria?
galleriagalleria: galleriagalleria (
@galleria__galleria) is a double collection of life lived yesterday and life encountered today. Double because it tells of two people, of two ways of seeing art. A constant search for beauty and randomness in finding it, all united by our personal taste. galleriagalleria is a digital sharing project, with the great desire to bring art to unusual places, through the physical contextualization of temporary site-specific projects. We believe that if a work is not set, but rather this is in need of attention; if a work does not "scream" the mere fact of existing, but rather timidly lets itself go unnoticed; well then we believe that this can be loved and cared for by the community that surrounds it.
SPPP: During our meeting you talked about your life overseas in New York. What are the main cultural and work differences that you have encountered during your stay?
gg: Our homeland is Italy, and it is even more precious and romantic when you see it through the eyes of those who live far away, removing that veil of fog from our eyes that accompanied our adolescence, re-educating ourselves to surprise and amazement. Going back and forth with New York gives us the great privilege of being able to see the Bel Paese with the gaze that only those who have had a long-distance love relationship can understand. The first reaction is that of embarrassment and disorientation, then you only see the positive sides. But after getting used to it too much, then better take a flight to our adopted land, New York City: here we got married, we have lived and worked here for many years. It's not an easy city, it really requires a lot of you. There is no escape, or you abandon yourself and invest all your energy, or you succumb. But if you are strong enough, you are rewarded with so many opportunities, colors, lights and people of all sorts with whom you grow on a human and cultural level. In the workplace there is a main and substantial difference, over there everyone is given at least one opportunity or more, even the youngest. If you feel like doing it, you can daydream and in our experience meritocracy certainly plays an important role.
SPPP: Based on your experiences abroad, how do you judge the current Italian art scene?
gg: A particularly interesting and difficult question, to which we do not yet feel ready to give an exhaustive answer. We have been serious and with studios facing the Italian contemporary art scene only recently and after years of experience mainly outside. We perceived a great desire to make community among the artists who seek to grow and instead greater will and need for independence and recognition among the most established artists. We perceive a substantial difference between the Italian and the American panorama when it comes to "young artist", a position considered with great enthusiasm in the American continent: opportunity to know a new perspective, freshness in the approach and methodology of the process. Our research and study continue to share an updated thought for our next meeting!
SPPP: Can you consider the gallery as the missing element in a binary system, a sort of satellite that interfaces with "estabilished" realities and artists as well as with "independent" realities and artists?
gg: galleriagalleria was born from the desire to spread "beauty". We have the desire to approach those who experience art with detachment for cultural reasons and / or related to the distance from the main hubs where art is the protagonist.
We wish to further stimulate a romantic rather than a critical approach to the work. As mentioned earlier, diversity only enriches.
SPPP: What projects do you have for the future of the gallery?
gg: The first site-specific gallery project will take place with great enthusiasm and with the summer solstice. Through the dissemination in a "widespread" way we will meet your gaze and when this happens, it is strongly recommended to let yourself be guided by curiosity and live the completely personal experience in sharing or individually. In any case, let us be carried away by a breath of fresh beauty!
